  • Thank you for considering adopting a future family member from Stray Hearts Animal Shelter. By choosing to adopt from us, you are helping an animal in our community who would otherwise not have a home. Shelter animals are special and the care we have dedicated to their upcoming adoption makes them even more special, since each of our animals receives individual care from our dedicated staff and volunteers. We are confident we can help you choose the right animal for your lifestyle.

    ANIMALS ADOPTED FROM STRAY HEARTS MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED (NO EXCEPTIONS). Your new pet will have all required shots unless the animal has not resided long enough with the shelter to facilitate all shots.


    Adoption Requirements


    Please note the following criteria for adopting an animal Stray Hearts Animal Shelter:
    1. You must be at least 18 years of age with proper I.D.
    2. If you currently rent, we must speak to your landlord for permission to bring an animal onto his/her property or you may provide a lease with a pet clause signed by your landlord
    3. You must have a fenced yard, a kennel that allows the animal normal exercise levels required by the size, temperament and type of animal. THE ANIMAL CANNOT BE CHAINED OUTSIDE.
    4. All kittens and cats are indoor only and must not go outside with the exception to those labeled indoor/outdoor.
    5. You should be financially able to provide for the animal's needs. This includes food, supplies, licenses, regular veterinary care, and emergency medical care.

    Stray Hearts Adoption Fees:
    • Puppies (8 weeks - 6 months) $125: includes spay/neuter, deworming, DA2PPV, Bordatella, Rabies vaccination, Parvo Testing, and Microchip
    • Adult Dogs (6 months - 4 years) $100: includes spay/neuter, deworming, DA2PPV, Bordatella, Rabies Vaccination, and Microchip
    • Adult Dogs (4 years and up) $85: includes spay/neuter, deworming, DA2PPV, Bordatella, Rabies Vaccination, and Microchip
    • Cats or Kittens $75: includes spay/neuter, deworming, FeLV/FIV testing, FVRCP, Rabies Vaccination, and Microchip

    Stray Hearts Service Fees:
    • Microchips: $20.00
    • Cat Carriers: $5.00 for a cardboard carrier. All cats and kittens must leave shelter in a carrier or you can bring your own.
