Join us! We have a variety of volunteer opportunities and caring for animals takes all kinds of people and all kinds of skills!
Three Steps to becoming a volunteer!
Apply online to volunteer here.
Attend an orientation at Stray Hearts, held the first Saturday of every month. (They last about an hour). Check our events calendar here for our next orientation.
Choose how you can help.
Can children volunteer?
Kids make great volunteers. For their safety, volunteers must be a minimum of 12 years old and are required to have adult supervision at all times. A parent or legal guardian liability waiver is required until age 18 and is kept on file.
Dog Walkers Needed!
Stray Hearts is dependent upon its volunteer team of Dog Walkers to ensure that all our animals have human contact, physical exercise, and mental stimulation on a regular basis. Dog walking will provide you with a very flexible opportunity to help the dogs and yourself! Beginner Dog Walker training is provided to all dog walkers, and Advanced Dog Walking training is offered as well.
Cats require human interaction to stay healthy and adoptable. Spend time with the cats and kittens and you will be instrumental in helping them get a forever home. This is a wonderful opportunity to include children 11 years or older.
You have probably seen our Volunteers around town at our many Fundraising and Community events. We welcome all who want to help the Shelter animals find forever homes.
We always need volunteers who have time to help us find grant opportunities. Experience writing grants is not required.
Emptying trash, wiping counters, dusting, washing windows, raking, planting, weeding, etc.
