Stray Heart’s Executive Director Last Day to be September 22

Stray Hearts Board of Directors

The Board of Directors for Stray Hearts reports that Executive Director Liam Hughes will resign from his position after a formal two week notice accepted on September 8.

Mr. Hughes’ last day will be Friday, September 22.

The Board’s long term strategic vision includes a shelter operating at a maximum capacity of 100%. For the last several years, Stray Hearts has operated at 185% capacity or greater. With the downsizing necessary to achieve this desired capacity, a traditional Executive Director position becomes non-essential. And Mr. Hughes agrees.

Mr. Hughes joined Stray Hearts as Executive Director in June of 2022.

“I came to Stray Hearts to help. And I’m happy with the work I did. I helped create an almost entirely new Board - and a professional one at that. But most importantly, we created an entirely new shelter staff including our talented behavioral team led by Eva Perrigo. I’m proud of my time here. The downsizing of the shelter, along with some new community programs, is the right path for Stray Hearts.” Mr. Hughes remarked.

The Board wishes to thank Mr. Hughes for his service to Stray Hearts and the community during this time, and bids him all the best in his future endeavors.
