We need your help!

Financial stability is essential for ensuring that STRAY HEARTS can keep its doors open well into the future. We had hoped that by now STRAY HEARTS would have contracts in place with both the Town of Taos and Taos County.

We responded to the Town’s initial Request for Proposals (RFP) for Animal Welfare Services in November 2025. Instead of awarding funding, the Town Council chose to re-release the RFP. We submitted our proposal again on March 9, 2026.

In the coming weeks, we encourage you to reach out to the Mayor and Town Council to voice your support for the Town of Taos contracting with STRAY HEARTS. Click the button below to access a template and contact information to help you make your voice heard.

You can also speak at the next Town Council meeting on March 24 or submit an editorial to the Taos News.

Even with careful financial management, STRAY HEARTS cannot operate sustainably without financial support from the Town of Taos and Taos County. Our community needs a functioning animal shelter, and community voices can help make that happen.
