How exactly does my planned gift help Stray Hearts?

A planned gift can be directed to our unrestricted endowment, where it will be stewarded by Stray Hearts Financial Advisory Committee to support long-term operations and address future or unforeseen needs.

Alternatively, you may designate your planned gift to support a specific Stray Hearts program, such as our Adoption Program, Foster Program, or Stray Hearts Community Pet Food Bank. It’s your gift — you decide exactly how it will be used to make an impact for many years to come.

OK, but what kind(s) of planned gifts could I leave Stray Hearts?

Bequests
A bequest is a gift made as part of your will or trust and is a meaningful way to leave a lasting legacy for Stray Hearts.

Retirement Accounts
Designating Stray Hearts as a beneficiary of your retirement plan can be a simple and tax-efficient way to include charitable giving in your estate planning.

You may also consider making a gift through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)—also known as an IRA charitable rollover—from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). This option may allow you to support Stray Hearts while taking advantage of potential tax savings, depending on your individual circumstances. Your financial advisor can help you determine if this option is right for you.

Distributions and rollovers are especially beneficial for charitably-minded individuals with large qualified retirement plans and/or IRAs.
